The lowdown: A celebrity fave (hello glowing red-carpet skin), HydraFacial is the buzzword in beauty-land right now, and Fairmont The Palm offers a super-dooper service that’ll whip your complexion into shape after just one session – we know, because we’ve tried it!
A clinical facial, rather than a relaxation service (but, hey that’s okay if it improves our skin, right?) the therapist will begin by evaluating your skin type. In the 45-minutes that follow, you’ll receive lymphatic drainage to reduce puffiness, followed by deep cleansing and exfoliation, using a gentle microdermabrasion technique in conjunction with glycolic acids. Then comes the extractions (oh how we have a love/hate relationship with extractions!). After your blackheads have been squeezed (yep, that’s what extractions are ICYDK), you’ll receive a powerful concoction of hyaluronic acid, antioxidants and Vitamin E, which are delivered deeply into the skin using the spa’s unique Vortex-Fusion system. These ingredients are responsible for the instant appearance of reduced fine lines, and plumper, firmer skin. To finish, red and blue lights are then applied to the skin to target congestion and calm any redness.
We can honestly say that we had fresher, clearer, glowy skin for at least four weeks, and the pesky monthly breakout was significantly reduced. Our therapist recommended repeating the service every eight weeks, and we’re counting down until the next treatment!
The side note: Take the time to check out the spa’s luxurious facilities including the extremely fun, ‘experience showers’ where you’ll enjoy an array of ambient sounds, lights, and water temperatures that vary from tropical to arctic. Warning – be prepared for the arctic!
