These past few weeks, we’ve all been going *through it*.
But the good news is, April 25th marks the tumultuous end of the mercury retrograde of the Aries sign.
That’s right. The chaos of Aries szn is finally over. So, no more blaming Mercury for our breakdowns, our communication mishaps, or for texting our ex at 1am. As Taylor Swift once said, “It’s me, hi, I’m the problem it’s me”.
As the second retrograde of the year comes to its long-awaited end, we can’t help but look on in apprehension of the next one. Here’s everything you need to know about Mercury Retrograde dates in 2024 and how Mercury Retroshade is here to haunt us.
13 December 13 to 1 January 2024: We well and truly started the year as we meant to go on, in sheer chaos.

When is the next Mercury Retrograde?
4 August to 27 August: August will see Mercury in retrograde under the earth sign Virgo, with it shifting into fire sign Leo after 14 August.
25 November to 15 December: The last retrograde of 2024 will be under Sagittarius again.
Just when you thought you got away unscathed, beware of the Mercury Retroshade
With Mercury Retrograde wreaking havoc on us in every quarter this year (pls, if you see me in Q4, no you didn’t), we can prepare for, and recover from, the retrograde in what is known as the shadow phase.
Mercury Retroshade, which refers to a planet’s “retrograde shadow period,” occurs both before and after the retrograde itself. And, despite its name, it’s not as shady as you’d think.
If you’re dealing with something particularly difficult in the pre-shadow period, likely, the retrograde period itself will likely specifically address those issues. Similarly, any issues you face during the retrograde will be resolved during the post-shadow period on the other side of retrograde.
So the good news is, folks, we’re in our post-retrograde shadow right now. So any chaos endured during the retrograde is on its way to being resolved. Or so we hope.
