Hashtag “Shams Al-Kuwaitia Shut Up” is now trending on social media. Singer Shams Al-Kuwaitia is under fire for some questionable comments she made about Moroccan women.

Shams has a video segment where she asks her followers to send in their queries and Shams will in return advise them on what to do. One woman wrote in, asking about why her husband left her for a Moroccan woman. Urban legend has it that all Moroccan women are witches and homewreckers, who’s sole purpose in life is to steal your man (ridiculous! right?)

Shams takes this as an opportunity to further add salt to the wound. She starts off by saying:

Do you have any idea how far away Morocco is from here? 9 hours! So your man disregarded you, bought a plane ticket, travelled all the way there, got “stuck” there because of what’s happening in the world and you think she stole him? No. He willingly went to her.

Wow.

But wait… it doesn’t stop there.

She continues:

Allow me to finally talk about this freely. I hear this all the time. Moroccan women are witches, Moroccan women are witches. Do you know why they’re witches? Well first, they’re beautiful. Second, they all know how to cook. How else do you keep a man? And I haven’t met a Moroccan woman who can’t cook and fill up an entire buffet. The power of smell and the effect it has on the brain. That’s why Moroccan women are witches.

All the while, with a caption stating “I will not shut up. I am not a sheep. I expressed my opinion and I did not offend anyone.”

Umm, kay. Whatever you say Shams.

We don’t know about you, but we don’t have room for that kind of negative energy in 2020.
